Given the multitude of sitters with varying levels of commitment and skill in their work, it can often be challenging to establish a clear expectation as a starting point. In the following, I will delineate the diverse care services I offer and provide a comprehensive explanation of my operational procedures at Happy Huskies. This is aimed at ensuring absolute transparency and offering you peace of mind when the booking process is completed.
House sitting
House sitting is a service that can vary significantly in terms of expectations, which is why I prioritize transparency and clear communication every step of the way. At Happy Huskies, my approach to house sitting is both professional and personalized, ensuring your pet receives consistent, high-quality care in the comfort of their own home.
The process begins with a thorough review of your dog’s Rover profile or intake form. This helps me evaluate compatibility based on your dog’s breed, temperament, and specific care requirements. If any information is missing or unclear, I’ll follow up with a few basic questions to ensure nothing is overlooked. For details about breed restrictions, please refer to our FAQ section.
To schedule house sitting, I require the time, date, and address for the requested stay. From there, we’ll set up an in-home meet and greet so I can get to know your pet in their familiar environment. During this visit, I’ll conduct a full walkthrough of your home and go over every aspect of your pet’s daily routine. This includes:
Feeding schedules and food prep
Potty breaks and clean-up procedures
Nap and bedtime routines
Playtime and enrichment
Treat preferences and reward timing
Walking paths and leash handling
Restricted areas in the home
Locations of supplies (cleaning, food, litter, etc.)
Kennel or crate usage
Litter box or potty pad maintenance
Plant care and mail collection (if requested)
Emergency contacts and vet info
Expectations for communication and updates
This visit typically takes around 30 minutes, though I take as much time as needed to ensure everything is understood and everyone feels comfortable moving forward.
Once the booking is confirmed, I follow a structured yet flexible house-sitting schedule. For standard house sits, I guarantee a minimum of 16 hours spent at your home daily, with breaks away typically limited to two separate 4-hour windows. If you've selected the Constant Care option, that commitment increases to 20+ hours at your home, with an option for a full 24-hour presence for pets needing round-the-clock attention. You can find a full breakdown of these service tiers in the Pricing section.
Throughout my stay, your pet receives ongoing supervision, companionship, and consistent care. I send regular updates and photos to keep you connected and reassured while you're away. I also maintain the cleanliness and security of your home, following your instructions closely for daily care and final lock-up when the stay ends.
At Happy Huskies, house sitting is more than just watching your pet—it's about maintaining their routine, keeping them safe, and giving you peace of mind while you're away.
Drop in visits
Drop-ins may seem like a simple service, much like dog walks, but expectations can vary depending on the sitter. At Happy Huskies, I take a personalized and detail-oriented approach to ensure every drop-in visit meets the specific needs of both pets and their owners.
Each drop-in booking begins with a comprehensive review of your dog’s Rover profile or intake form. This step is essential to determine compatibility based on your dog’s breed, temperament, and care requirements. If any details are unclear or missing, I’ll follow up with a few basic questions to ensure everything is properly understood. For information on breed restrictions, please refer to our FAQ section.
To schedule a drop-in, I simply need the requested time, date, and address. From there, we’ll arrange a meet and greet at your home so I can get to know your pet in their familiar environment. During this visit, we’ll walk through all areas relevant to your pet’s routine, including:
Feeding and treat locations
Potty areas and litter boxes
Sleeping or rest spaces
Food and water bowls
Toy storage and play areas
Restricted rooms or spaces
Cleaning supplies and accident protocols
Kennel or crate usage
Outdoor access points or walking paths
This meeting usually lasts around 30 minutes, but there's no strict time limit—I’ll take the time needed to ensure everything is clear and comfortable for both of us.
Once your pet and the requested dates are approved, I’ll add their profile to my Trello board and website calendar. You’ll receive a link to view my availability and manage bookings with ease.
On the day of your scheduled drop-in, I’ll arrive at the designated time and begin your pet’s customized care routine. This may include feeding, potty breaks, playtime, treats, litter box cleaning, fresh water, and any other specific tasks you’ve outlined. Drop-ins are offered in 30-minute or 1-hour time blocks, and my full attention is on your pet throughout the visit.
The time block refers specifically to the time spent inside your home providing care—it does not include travel time. You can expect to receive multiple photos of your pet during each visit, along with courtesy text messages upon my arrival and departure, so you’re always in the loop.
At Happy Huskies, every drop-in is designed to offer peace of mind and consistent, loving care—whether you're away for a few hours or a full day.
Scheduled walks
Walks may seem like a straightforward service, but expectations can vary greatly depending on the sitter. At Happy Huskies, my walking services begin with a detailed review of your dog’s Rover profile or intake form to ensure compatibility in terms of breed, temperament, and care needs. You can find additional information about breed restrictions in our FAQ section. After the initial review, I may follow up with a few basic questions if anything in the form is unclear or incomplete.
To schedule a walk, I simply need the time, date, and address from the owner. From there, we’ll arrange a meet and greet at your home so I can meet your pet in their familiar environment and conduct a brief walkthrough. During this visit, we’ll review any areas relevant to your dog’s walking routine. This typically takes about 30 minutes, though there’s no strict time limit.
Once your dog and requested dates are approved, I will add your pet’s profile to both my Trello board and my website calendar. You’ll also receive a link to view my schedule and book future services with ease.
On the scheduled day, I will arrive at your home, leash your dog, and begin their walk—ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the selected service. Please refer to the FAQ for details on acceptable leashes and collars. The time block you book reflects the actual time spent walking your dog outdoors and does not include travel or prep time before or after the walk.
Throughout the walk, my full attention is on your dog and their immediate surroundings. I will follow any provided walking instructions, clean up after your pet, and ensure their safety at all times. You'll receive multiple photos during the walk, along with courtesy text updates upon my arrival and departure.
If your dog is unwilling or unable to complete the walk, I’ll do my best to address the issue. However, your pet’s well-being always comes first. In such cases, I may spend the remaining time indoors with your dog or, if necessary, seek emergency veterinary care. Please see the Terms of Service (TOS) for detailed information on emergency procedures.
Meet and greets inside the owner's home
While meet and greets may seem simple, they involve several important steps to ensure a safe and successful match. At Happy Huskies, the process begins with a thorough review of your dog’s Rover profile or intake form to assess compatibility in terms of breed and temperament. For more information on breed restrictions, please refer to our FAQ section. Once this evaluation is complete, I may follow up with a few clarifying questions if any information is unclear or missing.
I simply need the specified time, date, and address from the owner. This allows us to schedule the meet and greet in your home, where I can become acquainted with your pet in their environment and conduct a comprehensive walk through. During this visit, we’ll go over all areas relevant to your pet’s routine—such as the bedroom, bathroom, food storage, cleaning supplies, restricted areas, litter boxes, kennels, the backyard, and walking routes. This typically takes around 30 minutes, though there is no set time limit.
Once I’ve confirmed compatibility with your pet and all care instructions have been reviewed in detail, I will leave the residence so you can finalize the booking either through the Rover app or direct confirmation. If a second meet and greet is necessary—whether due to behavioral changes, the addition of another dog, or a significant gap between bookings—the same process will apply to ensure continued comfort and understanding.
Transportation
Transportation is a straightforward service, but expectations can still vary depending on the sitter. At Happy Huskies, our approach to a transportation request begins with a thorough review of your dog's Rover profile or intake form. This initial step is essential to ensure that there is compatibility with your dog's breed and temperament. Further information about breed restrictions can be found in our FAQ section. After completing this initial review, we may follow up with any essential questions that may have been unclear or unanswered in the initial form.
Once your dog and requested dates are approved, I will integrate your dog's profile into my Trello and website calendar. Additionally, I will provide you with a link to my Trello, allowing you to access my schedule and book services as needed. On the scheduled day and time of the transportation request, I will come to your home or the facility where your dog is located. I will gather their personal items and safely lead them into the vehicle, following all traffic laws, to transport them to their destination.
You can expect to receive multiple photos of your pet as well as a courtesy text message upon my arrival and departure from your location.
